Children’s Sunday School Classes

All classes begin at 10:10 am each Sunday.

Children’s Sunday School is open, without charge, to all children ages 6 months thru grade 5. Teachers are trained volunteers who love children, are committed to their spiritual nurture, and serve as companions on the faith journey. Children are placed in classes based on their age or school grade as of Sept. 1 of this year.  (For room locations, see maps by the doors around campusl

Early Christian Awareness (ECA) 6-35 months (Meets in Nursery located in hall by Sanctuary)

ECA teaches infants and toddlers an awareness of themselves, their importance as a child of God and a sense of relationship to other children and adults. The lessons emphasize God’s love and the beauty of creation, using songs, dolls, mirrors and finger plays to stimulate all the senses.

Cherub Choir (Room 303 in Pre-school Foyer)

Children in Enjoying God and Pre-Kinder Godly Play begin their Sunday School classes with 15 minutes of learning worship songs, motions and connection to the season fo the Church Year.

Enjoying God - Age 3 thru Pre-K (Room 304 off the Gym)

Children personally discover the love of the Good Shepherd through story, song, and liturgy in an environment especially prepared for them to bridge ECA and Godly Play programs.

Godly Play – Kindergarten thru 2nd Grade (Kindergarten meets in Room 402 in Taylor Building; 1st Grade in Taylor 401; 2nd Grade in Taylor 400)

Godly Play is a method of Christian formation that encourages children to explore parable, sacred story, silence and liturgical action as means of becoming more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives. The class structure balances the personal and communal aspects of life in a Christian community.

Learning to Use My Bible - 3rd Grade (Room 201in Wyatt Hall)

Third Graders will spend the year exploring their newly-received Bibles and encountering the Scriptures in a variety of enjoyable ways that will help them appreciate this treasure as a lifelong companion.

The Way of the Child - 4th-5th Grades (Room 202-203 in Wyatt Hall)

This formational approach helps children develop an intimate, personal relationship with God. By practicing spiritual disciplines, relating to stories of Scripture, and connecting to their communities & the world, they gain new tools for wise decision making that will stand them well in Middle School.
