Interfaith Hospitality NetworkOnce each quarter, WUMC in conjunction with St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, offers shelter and hospitality on our campus to homeless families. Brackenridge Sewing RoomJoin Westlake UMC members each Wednesday at the Brackenridge Hospital Sewing Room where items are made that bring comfort to hospital patients. Projects can be done at home or in the sewing room. Call Octavia Smith, 892-6736.

Mobile Loaves and FishesA "prep team" prepares sack suppers for 75. A "truck team" travels to selected stops throughout the Austin area delivering meals and friendship to homeless neighbors.  WUMC mans 3 routes each month. Call Bob Batlan, 263-4177.

Tuesday Breakfast for the HomelessTuesday mornings at 5:15 am, volunteers from various churches gather downtown at 1st United Methodist to cook and serve breakfast to the homeless. WUMC is "in charge" each first Tuesday. Call Peggy Davis, 327-1806.

Toiletries Collection Sample size shampoos, lotions, soaps, etc. can be placed in the collection basket on the "Service Station" shelf in the narthex.  WUMC youth organize these for distribution at the Homeless Breakfast or on Mobile Loaves & Fishes routes.

Habitat for HumanitySeveral WUMC members build every Saturday with AHFH, and each spring, WUMC provides leadership for the "Westlake Churches Build", a cooperative effort among 6 Westbank area churches. Call Gerard VandeWerken, 263-9332.

Montopolis Friendship Community CenterWUMC continually collects clothes, toys, baby items and small house wares to support the MFCC Thrift Store. Funds are used for ministries at this East Austin Methodist community center and pre-school.  Call Octavia Smith, 892-6736.

Tab-it Habit for Ronald McDonald HousePlease recycle the tabs from aluminum cans (soda, tuna, dog food, etc.) you use. Funds generated from the recycling of these tabs underwrite overnight stays for families of critically ill children hospitalized in Austin. A collection jar is in the narthex.

"Christmas in October" is a WUMC tradition that seeks to make Christian service a priority during the holiday season. It includes a menu of activities for all ages and interests, and supports numerous organizations like Any Baby Can, Salvation Army, Family Eldercare, and Coats for Kids.
