What's The Point?
Find the point of your life by participating in The Point! The Point is not a church service---it’s a movement-- a multidimensional, incarnational movement in which people seek to wake up, connect, and change the world! We have many different faces: music concerts, Point-in-the-World Sundays when we go into the world to make it a better place, coffeehouse discussions, life recovery groups, English language groups, Sunday dinners, and Point Praise on Sunday evenings when we gather to give thanks for life. You don't have to join anything. You just choose when & how you'd like to participate and you can participate in as many or few dimensions as you want.

| FLASHBACK |
|
2/12 THE POINT GOES TO AUSTIN STATE HOSPITAL! Despite the cold and sleet, Point-in-the-World warmed the rec room at Austin State Hospital with good cheer! 24 of us created a special Sunday for 75 patients & staff. We sang & talked together and enjoyed serving refreshments. A heartfelt favorite was singing and swaying to “Lean on Me.” Truth in music---awesome! We were blessed as much by the patients as they were by us! It was a great time! |

3/11 POINT IN THE WORLD--- CROP WALK FOR HUNGER ON TOWN LAKE:
DON’T WAIT! We take on world hunger for our next Point-in-the-World! We want to raise $5000 to feed the hungry, both here in Austin and around the globe. To do this, we have staged a Crop Walk on Town Lake on March 11th. Out of town or unable to participate on March 11th? No problem. You can still register as a ‘Spirit Walker.’ Take a walk around Town Lake with your friends on a beautiful spring day and feed the hungry! You’ll want to REGISTER AS A WALKER OR SPIRIT WALKER TODAY to get your registration packet so you can begin taking donations ASAP! More information follows below.
No matter which way you choose to participate, you will change the world! You can register:
- Sundays, 10-11:15am at the Tent (in the Gym)
- Sundays, 5:30-7:30pm at Point Dinner / Praise
- Online (see link above)
You can participate in several ways:
- BE A WALKER, asking donors to sponsor your walk. Donors can pay you in person or online. Just send them to the WUMC homepage! It’s family friendly: we’ll walk only 1.5 miles, and we’ve picked out the flattest section of the trail, so it’s great for younger walkers or folks with strollers, wheelchairs, etc. The walk is scheduled for Sunday 3/11, and we’ll meet at 2:00pm at Auditorium Shores Park to register, hand in your donations, pick up and pay for your t-shirts, pick up signs, etc.
- BE A SPIRIT WALKER, asking donors to sponsor your participation, though you are unable to physically walk. This is great for homebound folks or those on vacation, who want to walk in spirit but will not be in Austin on 3/11.
- SPONSOR A WALKER. You can pledge a donation to a Walker or a Spirit Walker. It’s just a one-time donation. The amount is up to you, and you can pay when you pledge or donate online! You can donate even if you haven’t found a walker to sponsor! Simply write in ‘The Point’ in the space for a walker’s name. We’ll connect your donation with a walker!

POINT IN THE WORLD- CROP WALK FOR HUNGER- ON TOWN LAKE.
We go into the world to feed the hungry! We’ll meet in the early afternoon for a walk around Town Lake, raising money and awareness for both local and global hunger, and helping agencies that feed people. Sponsored by the Church World Service (an international relief, development and refugee resettlement agency), CROP stands for ‘Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty.’
We’ll meet at 2pm for a walk around Town Lake, raising money and awareness for both local and global hunger, and helping agencies that feed people. You can participate by (1) walking and getting donors to sponsor your walk (2) being a ‘Spirit Walker’, raising funds though unable to physically walk, and (3) sponsoring someone else on their walk.
We’ll have cool t-shirts for sale to increase our visibility, and we’ll have a way for donors to sponsor your walk online, so raising money will be EASY PEASY! You can sign up to walk with us (1) at the Tent (in the Gym) on Sundays 10-11:15am, (2) at Point Praise, or (3) online: click here to sign up to walk. More details coming soon! |

| WANT TO CHANGE THE WORLD? |
|
You can join our POINT-IN-THE-WORLD TEAM. You can help brainstorm and plan volunteer projects for our monthly Point-in-the-World outings. Projects should accommodate a group of people and address the needs of 'The Least, The Last, and The Lost.' People have suggested several ideas for the new year, including Austin Pets Alive, Central Texas Coalition against Human Trafficking, Saint Louise House, Austin State Hospital, Salvation Army, Project Transitions, World Vision, and more. If you’re interested, email us at seekthepoint@gmail.com so we can meet at a time that works for you. |
