These four words express our vision of what we are and what we do as a community. "Following" signifies that we are disciples, we are learning, we are being shaped. "One" is the one we follow, Jesus Christ, the revelation of God to us. Jesus came not to be served but to serve. We are called to invite Christ into our hearts, follow his way authentically, and extend his love to all we encounter.
"Serving" shows that we look beyond ourselves. Jesus set us free to live as God intended. We go into the world to engage its brokenness and afflictions, extend a helping hand wherever we can, and invite others into a life-changing adventure. "All" has plenty of challenge to it. We are stretched to go beyond our boundaries and reach out to everyone. Jesus hung out with the least, the last, and the lost. These are the ones that we are called to serve, too.
I am excited about the challenge to which our vision calls us.
