Linda Cox has volunteered to lead us this year and Cathy Barton volunteered to be the secretary and update our email contacts as we go. Linda, Leslye Wakefield, and Cathy will attend the Texas Impact meeting beginning on Sunday, Jan. 22-Jan.23rd. During these sessions with other Methodist women from around the state we will be exploring the key issues that impact children and women and suggesting directions for our representatives to voice our concerns to Texas lobbyists. Linda has attended past events and said it was very powerful in that we actually do have a voice.

- The book for Feb. is The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba. This is a story of a poor African child who engineers the construction of a windmill for his village with no formal training.
- The second book for March matches the topics of our free retreat on March 3rd . The title of that story is Forgotten Girls: Stories of Hope and Courage by Kay Marshall Strom and Michele Rickett.
- The book for April is The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot.
- The book for May is The Death of Josseline: Immigration Stories From the Arizona Borderlands by Margaret Regan.
